When you identify with a bug that eats poop to survive?

Let’s start with what it isn’t. The big ‘isn’t’ is that it is not a religion. It is indeed spiritual in nature. But it is not a religion because it has no dogma and because there is no conflict between reiki and any belief system. This that like prayer, it is a spiritual practice but it is not specific to a religion, nor is it its own religion.

The best explanation of Spiritual Direction I have ever heard is that of the Grandmother of Spiritual Direction, Margaret Guenther. She describes a spiritual director as a spiritual midwife. They are there to support you, to walk you through the process of connecting more deeply to God, to your spirit. Much like a midwife is there to help healthy women through the process of giving birth.

When you are really living out the love of God for yourself and then naturally to others, you don’t have to work very hard to convince them of anything. They will see it and be drawn to it naturally. Because it IS different than this worldly way of life. Good different.

And I just think it’s time to accept that. It’s not well. None of it is well. That’s okay because the Kingdom IS near. But I DO NOT have to like this part. I do not need to slap a smile on this season.I won’t do toxic and inauthentic positivity because that’s what our culture reveres. Because this culture will fail me over and over and over again. In case you haven’t noticed. I do not need to lie to myself. I do not need to hold any of this until the Kingdom comes. I can just accept that this is not well with my soul and start to move forward.

And to tell you the truth, I don’t think I’ve gotten very far. I mean, yes, of course I have grown as a person or whatever. I have learned a lot of lessons and seen tremendous growth in my spiritual life, my life as a business owner, in my home life as wife and mother. But how much of that is really due to my hard work at reinvention and improvement, my renovation of the soul? And how much of it is just growing up? How much of it has to do with me and my efforts and time and money, and how much of it is just walking with God a little longer than before?
